The United Association prides itself by training the best and most qualified pipe tradesperson for longer than anyone else in the industry. As such, we the members of the UA are proudly backed and continue to foster premier training programs that include five-year apprenticeship programs, extensive journeyperson training, organized instructor training and certification programs.
The UA Standard for Excellence reflects the UA commitment to deliver the highest levels of safety, quality and productivity and thereby ensure the complete satisfaction of the clients, owners and contractors who ultimately employ our members.
The United Association offers premier training programs for pipe trades, including 5 Level apprenticeship, Journeyperson training, and certifications. Instructors are trained by governing bodies and The UA's training program.
Local 401's Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee sets high standards for apprentices, requiring extensive training and safety courses. Financial incentives are provided for completing trade school. Courses include safety, pre-trade, union heritage, blueprint reading, and basic welding.
Local 401 offers advanced training with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. Members can upgrade skills and keep up with tech changes. Free courses available include Rigging, Forklift, Welding, and Health & Safety. The training helps members maintain high standards in the industry.

Commercial construction builds structures for businesses that operate for profit, including stores, banks, hotels, and offices.
Fabrication involves creating products by assembling standardized parts using various processes, such as cutting and bending. Computer-aided design and CNC technology improve quality standards and produce high-quality assemblies.
Distribution pipelines transport oil and gas products to homes and businesses from transportation points. The construction involves welding and inspecting every pipe using X-ray or ultrasound, installing valves and fittings, and remote sensors to monitor pipeline pressure, flow rate, and temperature.
